Projects / Wellcome Trust Panel Rooms

Client
The Wellcome Trust
Project description
Our proposal for remodelling the Wellcome Trust’s interview and meeting room facilities involved a careful assessment of the client’s working processes and culture, together with an assessment of the spatial possibilities offered by the design of the enclosing structure, by Hopkins Architects.
Innovations & added value
Our aim was to carefully modulate lighting and other environmental conditions, allowing room users to experience change over the course of the day; important for reducing fatigue and maintaining focus during longer meetings and interviews, and where demanding material is being considered. A fully programmable LED lighting scheme provides excellent task lighting and minimises glare conditions. Screening and a double layer facade enable privacy when discussing and presenting sensitive material. Secondary entrances are provided to all rooms, allowing presenters to arrive and depart separately, and the fluid and varied room shapes facilitate movement. Furniture storage is discretely built into the enclosing walls.
