Project description

The scheme involved the enlargement of the existing store by retaining its concrete frame and adding two levels. Further floor space was added by extending into the adjacent site. The existing façade was removed to create a new coherent elevation adjoining with the extension and maximising the public frontage.

Innovations & added value

The main shopfront façade is transformed into a modern architectural statement which refers back to strong local precedents using the language of classical proportions and materials. This also helps breathe new life into Eden street and links it back to the functionality of the high street.
