3DReid worked closely with McLaren Property on the refurbishment of 33 apartments and a new common room hub, at Meadow Court in central Edinburgh.

Meadow Court offers a range of 3, 4, 5 & 6 bedroom apartments. The refurbishment of the living accommodation, which was undertaken throughout the summer break, saw all 33 apartments fully refurbished, including new kitchens with lounge and dining areas, as well as a full renewal of all 148 bedrooms with high quality fixtures and fittings to provide a more contemporary student living experience.

The new build common room was constructed as a focal point for the scheme and our interiors team have achieved a relaxed and modern feel within the space which includes group study facilities and a new private entertaining kitchen & dining room.

The building fabric features a palette of high quality materials and includes smooth stonework walls, extensive glazing with bi-fold doors that lead out to the new private landscaped courtyard, and a feature soffit with larch cladding, whilst a green roof system was included in order that the building’s impact upon neighbouring sites was reduced.

Innovations & added value

Working within confines of the existing courtyard, the team developed the common room to deliver a small but attractive building which provides a new focal point and hub for the students.
