Project description

Aldwych Chambers is a conversion of an office building near The Strand in Central London. The project retained the structural frame, but provided a new front facade. The development consists of 20 high quality apartments in a mix ranging from 1 to 4 bed units.

Care was taken to develop the internal spatial possibilities of the existing two storey mansard roof.

Our approach takes into consideration specific planning requirements in terms of material choices to adhere to local and heritage influences.

Innovations & added value

By retaining the existing frame, we were able to reduce the construction programme and invest a larger proportion of the construction budget in the quality of finishes on the façade and internal spaces.

A series of external spaces at the rear of the building have been achieved through carful space planning and use of suitable planting and hard landscaping.
