Project description

The project extends the original Paul Andreu terminal at Abu Dhabi International Airport, which is now at capacity, with new land-side facilities, including new check-in and arrival halls, and reconfigured approach roads.

Innovations & added value

The design of the existing terminal has a fluid, curved plan but a relatively introverted section and makes limited use of natural light. Our proposal for extending it follows the pattern of the original building in plan, but opens up in section to bring daylight into the major passenger spaces. The structural concept takes inspiration from a design by the French architect and engineer Jean Prouve.
