Refurbishment Architect of the Year Finalist

Delighted that 3DReid is a finalist for the BD Architect of the Year Awards 2022 in the Refurbishment category.

3DReid won Refurbishment Architect of the Year Awards 2017 and we are honoured to be a Finalist again.

With the emphasis on sustainability growing through all aspects of our lives, it is becoming more important to look at retaining and reusing our existing buildings, redeveloping, not for just for today but for the future and the next generation. We understand the challenges that are faced in restoring and refurbishing existing buildings and structures, we continually use our skill, expertise, knowledge, and vision to transform buildings in a sympathetic, sustainable, sensitive and innovative manner injecting new purpose and life into them. We have delivered many projects both small and large, remodelling and enhancing existing buildings across such diverse sectors as: hospitality, education, offices, retail, airports, residential, cultural and community-use.

These three projects illustrate the range of our capabilities and the creative and intelligent solutions that can transform existing buildings into beautiful and contemporary spaces for the future.

Cameron House, Loch Lomond

Cameron House restoration brings the B-listed early 19th century Baronial Mansion back into use as the centrepiece of the world-renowned five-star luxury resort set within the iconic Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

A façade retention design was developed and implemented following the stabilisation of the building. With the façade retained, the inner building was sensitively redesigned, with the notable features and principal room forms reinstated, and an extension to the rear introduced allowing clear and accessible circulation routes throughout the building. 14 individually designed suites and 7 bedrooms have been formed over the basement and upper floors, with rooftop and dormer terraces introduced allowing guests a greater connection to the spectacular surroundings. The reinvented ‘Auld House’ is complemented by a further 119 fully refurbished bedrooms, function rooms, bars, restaurants, event spaces and a new leisure club, comprising family friendly swimming pools, gym, fitness suites, cinema and sports bar.

Gleneagles Townhouse, Edinburgh

Gleneagles Townhouse is a sensitive conversion of two interconnected Category A listed buildings within the significant Georgian architectural character of Edinburgh’s New Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Gleneagles Townhouse is the result of a five year project to convert the former Bank of Scotland headquarters into a hotel and private members club as part of an expansion of the Gleneagles Hotel brand, transforming it into a new and vibrant destination allowing the impressive interior spaces to be accessible to the public once again.

As Architect and Lead Consultant, 3DReid worked closely with the Client to not only preserve and restore these historic buildings but to secure a viable commercial offer which would ensure the long term success of the property and contribute positively to the area and to the city as a whole.

111 Piccadilly, Manchester

111 Piccadilly is a Platinum standard WELL accredited workplace environment, the first of its kind in the UK. The transformation has completely rewritten the rule book for refurbishments and proves smart tech is not just the domain of new builds. Our team has created a blueprint for redeveloping existing assets to create workspaces of the future.

Bringing hospitality design to a unique WELL accredited workplace environment, the space includes open cafe, private relaxation and open lounge areas with associated F&B facilities, meeting rooms and co-working areas and workspaces.

The Awards ceremony is taking place on Tuesday, 18th October, 2022 in London.
