Project description

The World of Glass 4,500sqm museum housing the Pilkington Glass Collection and also part of the St Helens’ local museum collection, as well as exhibition and demonstration areas, teaching and conference facilities, offices, a workshop, library and restaurant/coffee shop.

Innovations & added value

The project included the restoration of the original Grade II Listed cone. The one million or so bricks are all re-usable. To finance the scheme, we were instrumental in putting together an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund, which granted £8,385,000.
