This landmark development delivers much-needed new homes for the city, including 94 affordable homes, helping to support Edinburgh’s housing needs while bringing long-term institutional investment into high-quality rental housing.
The team also secured planning consent for the introduction of 35 additional high-quality homes for rent by increasing the height of Block A.
In response to Goodstone Living’s strong environmental objectives and our own practice demands to deliver sustainable communities, the development includes a number of environmental features to promote active travel, a significantly expanded landscape and public realm area along the promenade, re-purposing space previously allocated for car parking, and array of photovoltaic panels to reduce in-use operational carbon and benefit from renewable energy.
Leith’s coastal location shaped its docklands, establishing it as a prominent Scottish town through industry, trade and export, bringing wealth to the area. People from Leith or ‘Leithers’ like to retain independence from Edinburgh, though as it grew the boundaries have blurred but the sense of Leith identity still remains.
“Dockside has been designed to respond to the character of Leith while creating a distinctive new waterfront neighbourhood. We are proud to have worked with Goodstone Living and the wider team to deliver a high-quality, design-led scheme that will stand the test of time and contribute positively to the city.”
