3DReid has secured a planning consent to extend Solihull’s Touchwood Shopping Centre on behalf of Lend Lease and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.

The new 115,000sq ft extension adds up to 30 new shops and additional restaurants and cafes focused around a new public courtyard. The development marks a major investment in the shopping centre and the surrounding area, creating new public space and allowing for upgrades to surrounding council buildings.

Head of Retail at 3DReid Mark Anders explained: “We have designed a significant retail intervention whilst maintaining a civic scale to the new development, through sensitive massing, choice of materials and integration with the extensive new public space. The proposal integrates with the surrounding urban fabric of Solihull whilst enhancing the setting of the Grade I listed St Alphege Church to the east of the centre.”
