Andrew Holmes / Matt Gaskin Turnerized Ridley Road Market To create an architectural connection on Ridley Road Market that incorporates the three chosen characters JMW Turner, Paco De Lucia and David Bowie, the market was the main focus of the project.
After the preliminary development it became clear that a connection between the character or the user of the building and the market was one of my primary aims for the design. Therefore the intention of the project is to create a unique set of structures that allow this ‘connection’. To make the spaces functional, the buildings will act as environments for a person wishing to copy the unique abilities of the character. So three buildings will exist to allow the occupier to perform the tasks necessary to emulate the character of Bowie, Paco and Turner.....
