3DReid is to deliver four new build schools in Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland, after a Public Private Partnership deal – worth more than £100 million – was agreed between the Council and the E4d&g Consortium. The agreement will also see another 3 new schools built and another refurbished. The 3DReid element is for two Primary Schools, one ‘All-through’ Primary/Secondary School and one co-located Primary and Secondary School, all with Pre-5 facilities. Graham Edwards, Divisional Director, said: “The designs maximise the potential for community use, fulfil the needs for an inclusive education and respond to the specific site context within which each school sits.’ In addition, to the design and delivery of the four schools, 3DReid is acting as Design Team Lead, controlling the quality and delivery of the overall project in collaboration with Waring and Netts Architects. Council chief executive Phil Jones, said the contract signing was an “important milestone”. “Throughout this process council members have maintained a consistent focus on achieving a major improvement in school provision in Dumfries & Galloway, “ he said. “It is good news that this commitment has now been rewarded.” Construction is due to start later this year with the first new school expected to be completed in 2009. |
